Thank you so much for helping me broaden my horizon. I learned a lot and tried things I might not have tried without the motivation of the program. I will hang on to the different sites and accounts I have created. Some of these things will be very useful. Thanks again

Well with a little help (thanks Penny) I got set up with a netlibrary account. I found a book that I will download to my ipod touch to listen to on my flight to Houston next week. i will at least get started and it will give me something to do at the airport and during the flight.

I had a lot of fun watching all the different videos. i picked the ones above because they are funny. I like swimming and babies always provide some great moments. the 3rd one was what I found when i searched for "most watched". I could spend a lot of time on YouTube and not even realize it.

podcasting in plain english

I tried the other day and again today to access that podcasting in plain video site but it said it was private. I did look around at podcasts and checked a few out. There were a lot of ways to search for content.

Podcast

I found a podcast of audio books it might take a bit of navigating to find something I would like but it is a start. I find you tube more fun.

Some of the podcast stuff is a little weird but I guess that is what you get when you open a place for people to share their ideas and other things.

Google Docs and online library catalog

I created an account on Zoho writer but then went on to explore Google docs. I have decided to stick with Google apps because they are all in one place. Since I am new to all this it is easier to keep track of all the different things if they are in one place.

I am ashamed to say I don't have a current library card. It has been years since I had one. My girls had theirs so we used those during their years using the library. I have put off this entry thinking I would get to the library for a new card but it hasn't happened yet. I did explore the online catalog as much as I could without the library card.

Wikis

I have read wikipedia "definitions" many times and never realized their origin. It was really interesting. I now know that I am reading an accumulation of a lot of info from different sources to create an entry. This is a great way to tap a huge resource. I can't think of a reason to start a wikis right now but know their value if the need arises.

Tagging

I tried to watch the social bookmarking in plain English and it said it was private. I did set up accounts in Delicious and Technorati. It was really interesting to be able to search just about anything. When you put in a few key words, all kinds of things came up.

Rollyo and glogster

I have been trying for 3 weeks to explore the Rollyo site but:" Rollyo is (again, sorry) Undergoing Some Much-Needed Maintainance. We'll be back soon." I give up!

The Glogster looks like fun but that isn't my thing. I am not creative so other than checking out things on the site sorry but I don't have a glog to post.

RSS feed fun

I set up the bloglines account and added my feeds. I can already see how this can be fun and addicting. I will continue to watch for the RSS feed link on sites I like to visit. This has helped me to explore technology I would not have explored. I guess I am not too old to learn new tricks!

Wow what a snow day! It is really beautiful and I am glad I am at home looking outside. It is a winter wonderland out there. I guess I had better take my flag down before the neighbors come after me. The only problem is that I can't get to it due to the depth of the snow. I guess it is time to say enough!

I created a flickr account and navigated the site but decided to post one of my own pictures.

The picture is the view from a room at the Royal Plantation Resort Ocho Rios Jamaica. I would love to be there right now because it would be a lot warmer and no snow!

Creating this blog is my snow day adventure. It beats going out and shoveling. This begins my 23 Things Ephrata Challenge.
